Cumbria Wildlife Trust has become the latest Trust to invest in their future success by purchasing a new accounting software and business solution, IRIS Exchequer, to replace their existing Sage MMS. The Trust is the only voluntary organisation devoted solely to the conservation of the wildlife and wild places of Cumbria, and raising environmental awareness.


The recent bad weather has meant many workers taking time off.  Businesses have been struggling to maintain normal working conditions, whilst at the same time, monitor the amount of absenteeism.  An effective workforce management solution, such as the t&a21 Time Attendance and Rostering module offered by Frontier Software, would have enabled businesses to manage this situation effectively.


Launch of Software News

A software news service has been launched by SoftComparison.Com for all of the software packages covered in its online directory.

Software Package Authors will be able to upload their own breaking news at any time.  The service is free of charge but restricted to one submission per week with a maximum of 100 lines of text.


Software market contraction

Over the last two years the UK business software market has changed considerably - 2 years ago there were nearly 2,000 software authors - today there are less than 600. Some business software authors sell their products directly but a large number sell their products through resellers. 2 years ago there were 3,500 resellers, today there are less than 1,000.


As the UK Government finalises its draconian plans to implement XBRL filing of Company Accounts in 2011 and the US SEC has imposed mandatory filing in XBRL on about 500 companies this year, Microsoft loses out on an obscure patent stopping it shipping Word with embedded XML.
